Card Search Filters

The card search filter helps you find the cards you want to add to a deck. With it, you can show cards with a specific characteristic, from a certain set, or with certain words on them.

The filter is in the upper left corner of the Deck Editor and Deck Builder screens. Except for additional check boxes on the Deck Editor screen, both filters work exactly the same way.

There are also card search filters on the Collection and Trade screens. See Collection and Trade Card Search Filters for information.

Buttons
The buttons let you find large groups of cards by color and/or type. For example, you can look at all red cards, all sorceries, or all red sorceries.
The top row of buttons represents the colors of Magic cards (along with colorless). From left to right the buttons are white, blue, black, red, green,  and colorless.
The bottom row of buttons represents the types of Magic cards. From left to right the buttons are land, artifact, creature, sorcery, instant, and enchantment.
When you open a screen with a card search filter, all buttons are selected so all available cards are shown. To remove one of the options, left click on a button. The button will appear shaded and no cards with that characteristic will be shown.

To show only cards with a particular color or type, right-click on the appropriate button. All other buttons in that row will appear shaded. If you right-click on the red button, only red cards will be shown. You can then right-click on the sorcery button to see only red sorceries.

Sets
This drop-down list lets you choose to see only cards from one set or group of sets.
All: Show cards from all sets.
Set name: Show only cards from a single set.
Block name: Show only cards from that block. For example, if you select Invasion block, you'll see only cards from the Invasion, Planeshift, and Apocalypse sets.
Format name: Show only cards from sets legal in that format. For example, if you select Standard you'll see only cards that are legal in the current Standard format.

Mana Cost
These drop-down lists let you see only cards which have certain converted mana costs. Suppose you want to see all cards with a converted mana cost of 3. You can choose = (equal to) from the left drop-down list, and then select 3 from the right drop-down list.

Search for
The search for box lets you find only cards with specific text or symbols on them. Type in the word you want to search for and press ENTER. For example, if you type in "goblin," you'll see all cards with creature type Goblin and all cards with "goblin" in their names or rules text. (You won't see cards that only have the word "goblin" in flavor text.)

You can also do more sophisticated searches using symbols and multiple keywords. See Keyword Searches for more information.

Reset Button
When you click the Reset button it does three things:
  1. All buttons become unshaded.
  2. Both Mana Cost drop-down lists are cleared.
  3. The Keywords box is cleared.
All other settings stay as they were before you clicked the Reset button.

Deck Editor Check Boxes
These are the two check boxes you'll only see on the Deck Editor screen.

Show all versions
If the Show all versions check box is cleared, all cards with the same name will be listed on the same line while the Deck Editor is in table view. This includes both premium (foil) versions of a card and cards with the same name from different sets. If this box is selected, premium cards will be on separate lines from regular cards and cards with the same name will be separated by their sets.

My cards
When the My cards option is checked, the Card Pool will include only cards that you own. If you clear this check box, the Card Pool will include four of each card in each set. If you add cards you don't own to a deck, the card name will be blue in the Deck window.
